The DARK DOG trademark was created and registered in Austria in 1995. The final concept was approved and launched in 2000. The product successfully entered the Latin America market in 2003, and now holds the market leader position in Paraguay, Uruguay and the Seychelles, whilst maintaining a high position in both Chile and Bolivia. DARK DOG is currently distributed in over 30 markets worldwide and is one of the top recognized energy brands in markets such as France, Sweden and Austria.

Method

DARK DOG recently attended the Dubai Drink Technology Expo 2012. The fifth edition of the premier specialized event in the Middle East and North Africa region took place at the beginning of December at the Dubai World Trade Centre.
Over 100 international beverage and machine companies from 35 different countries were present at the fair. The show offered exhibitors and visitors alike an insight into the beverage industry, and presented exhibitors with an opportunity to reach a large segment of the target market, discover recent developments and build important partnerships.
Mr. Tariq Al Madani, Managing Director at Index Conferences and Exhibitions, the organizers of the Dubai Drink Technology Expo, commented on the « accelerating number of participants and visitors ». He stated that « The exhibition has opened new doors for international exhibitors coming from Europe, USA and Asia to enter the GCC and the Middle East markets and invest in them. »
DARK DOG lanyards were given to pre-registered trade visitors as they arrived. There was also a DARK DOG Orange banner suspended from the ceiling, and a DARK DOG Orange advert on the back cover of the fair catalogue. The Dubai Drink Expo was the perfect opportunity for DARK DOG to combine promotion and publicity with research and interaction.

What is an energy drink?
An energy drink is characterized by the mental stimulation and increased physical stamina that result from its consumption. Energy drinks contain a unique combination of ingredients and are classified by the caffeine content per 250ml and the addition of taurine and vitamins. Energy drinks do not contain alcohol.
Although energy drinks are consumed by many athletes, there is a difference between energy drinks and sports drinks: in fact, many sports drinks are not considered energy drinks, as they do not fit these criteria. The distribution channels for energy drinks are different to those of sports drinks; they are often sold in restaurants, bars and nightclubs, for people who want to stay out longer.
How does DARK DOG differ from other energy drinks?
DARK DOG energy drinks contain the natural caffeine guarana, which is much better for the stomach than the synthetic caffeine used in most other energy drinks. DARK DOG products do not contain substances such as inositol or glucuronolactone, as there are currently no scientific results concerning their reaction with caffeine or taurine.
How much caffeine is there in each can?
One can of DARK DOG Energy contains 80mg of caffeine - on average, the same as one standard cup of filter coffee.
What is caffeine? Where does it come from?
Caffeine is a psycho-stimulant; it has a stimulating effect in the cerebral cortex and respiratory and circulatory systems. Caffeine can be found in its natural form in coffee beans, tea leaves, kola nuts and mate leaves, and of course in the guarana berry.
What is guarana?
Guarana is a plant, native to the Amazon forest, best known for its fruit, the guarana berry. The Amazon Indians discovered the red fruit of guarana centuries ago and originally called it 'Warana'. The seeds were dried and grated to produce a powder which, when dissolved in water, created a refreshing drink the Amazon Indians took with them during hunting season. Guarana is one of the best natural sources of caffeine, as its berries contain about twice the caffeine found in coffee beans.
What does guarana do?
The natural caffeine found in guarana is slowly released into the body, offering long-lasting effects. Guarana is ideal for those who cannot drink coffee, thanks to active ingredients that encourage increased brain activity without creating anxiety. Guarana has a refreshing and vitalizing effect on body and soul, stimulating and enhancing perception, whilst also increasing concentration levels. Guarana also has a stabilizing effect on the blood system, soothing both the stomach and intestines. The stimulating effect of guarana can last up to six hours without causing any adverse reactions. Guarana is healthy and has a strengthening and beneficial effect when taken regularly.
What is taurine?
Taurine is an amino acid that works as a metabolism transmitter and plays a significant part in carbohydrate metabolism.
Is there a difference in quality between the DARK DOG cans and the PET packaging?
Both the 250ml can and the PET packaging contain the same product. However, the shelf life of a PET bottle is up to 18 months, due to the packaging used, whilst that of a can is up to 24 months.
